‘Legends’ concert sold out

The Thunder Bay Legends concert slated here Saturday night at the Townshend Theatre is sold out, organizers reported this morning.
“I’m pleasantly surprised. Very happy,” said Teresa Hazel, director of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
The Foundation will be receiving proceeds from the concert, which, in turn, will go towards the Phase IV renovations at La Verendrye hospital.
“There’s always a fear when having a concert that it might not sell out,” Hazel added. “We’re really happy to see them coming here.”
Hazel said those who want to take their chance to still get a ticket can call her (274-4803) and put their name on a waiting list—just in case there’s people who had reserved tickets and then had to cancel at the last minute.
She added two tickets for the show also have been donated to the Kiwanis TV auction this Saturday. Those watching the auction on Channel 10 between 3:30-3:45 p.m. can snatch them up if their bid is high enough.
Called “A Tribute Artist Extravaganza,” the evening, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will see “appearances” by Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Loretta Lynn, Neil Diamond, Patsy Cline, Billy Joel, ABBA, Connie Frances, Roy Orbison, George Strait, Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw, and “The King” Elvis Presley.
Hazel noted she didn’t expect tickets to sell out four days before the show, adding it’s too bad a second one couldn’t be booked. “It’s a great fundraiser. Maybe we can get them here again in the fall,” she remarked.
Hazel said that show could be completely different from the one on Saturday since the roster of “stars” is greater than the number coming here, and those who bring the Thunder Bay Legends in for an event can choose which performers take the stage.
Saturday night’s show is being sponsored by Penn-Co Construction Canada Ltd., general contractor for the Phase IV renovations at La Verendrye.
