Anne Sullivan transferred to Emo from Thamesville as the new manager of the LCBO in June, 1983, replacing Jimmy James.
Having started with the LCBO in 1979, she was one of the first 10 female managers for the LCBO.
Sullivan first lived at the home of Marcel DeGagne, who at that time was owner of the Can-Am Restaurant in Emo. Later, she purchased a home in which both she and her cousin, Judy Vanderzeeum, reside.
Both ladies love to garden.
All of Sullivan’s staff at the LCBO will tell you she is a very dedicated, soft-spoken manager—and willing to teach whatever she can to help.
Vanderzeeum, an employee with the LCBO for 17 years, recently was named manager at Rainy River. “Without Anne’s training and help, I would not be the manager at LCBO in Rainy River,” she noted.
To celebrate Sullivan’s 20th anniversary with the LCBO here, employee Debbie Carlson had a one-layer decorated cake ready for the occasion. “I had a hard time trying to keep hiding it,” she laughed.
Inscribed at the top of the cake was “Congratulations, Anne, on 20 years of faithful service in Emo.” The flowers were provided by staff.
“This is a honest-to-goodness surprise,” Sullivan said with a wide grin.
Congratulations to you, Anne, from the rest of your township friends, and may the rest of your time spent here be enjoyable.
