KBHW nears completion of Chisholm project

“We have been not so patiently waiting for the weather to allow us to pour concrete for the new Chisholm translator and the tower is up,” said KBHW manager Bruce Christopherson.
He said there’s still some equipment to be delivered and some antennas to mount, but “we should be near completion by the time we get our newsletter out.”
Chisholm is one of the major projects and upgrades KBHW hopes will be completed over the next six months. Hoyt Lakes should be finished in early June, which will allow the station to prepare for brand new FM translators in Tower and Angle Inlet.
“We are still waiting for FCC approval on those two sites and others, but we expect to have construction permits in hand by early August,” Christopherson noted.
“Each one of these translators will serve a large number of people who have never had a strong Christian radio signal easily available to them,” he added.
“We really believe Christian radio can be an important part of your spiritual life that can make a difference in the cities of this area.”
Christopherson said they have a translator fund set up in their budget and if you would like to contribute specifically towards these projects, it would be appreciated.
A short perusal of the budget for the summer translator projects gave KBHW a target of somewhere over $50,000 still needed. “We’ve had a great response from our survey,” noted Christopherson.
If you need a survey sheet, you can download it from KBHW’s website—www.kbhw.org—or by calling the station at 1-218-285-7398.
On my visit to KBHW last Tuesday, I found Gene Gee at the controls operating the evening shift. In a few weeks, he will have his family in International Falls as the school year has now ended.
“I am looking forward for them to be here and, as a family, get to know the area and the people,” Gee said.
