July 1 events planned

Canada Day is this Sunday and many district communities are gearing up to provide a day of celebration.
Barwick, for instance, will hold its parade, a ball tournament, and great food booths while Emo once again has a full day of activities planned.
Be sure to take in both communities. You’re sure to come home full, tired, and happy that you enjoyed our fun-filled, small-town atmosphere.

Cornell Farms in La Vallee will host its next barn concert on Thursday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m.
This one will feature Pat Temple and the Hilo Players.
Temple and his musicians play a variety of “Americana music,” including jump blues, swing, hillbilly jazz, and much more.
Tickets cost $15 in advance, available at Tompkins Hardware, the Fort Frances Public Library, and online, and $20 at the door.
Cornell Farms is proud to be part of the band’s cross-Canada tour.

Congratulations to Adam and Ashley Esselink on the birth of their third child, Austin James, on Friday, June 22.
Proud grandparents are Betty and Gary Esselink and Larry and Julie Stromness.

Robin’s 2¢:
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands.
If they are around your throat, she is probably slightly upset.
