Once again, the community of Emo is hosting its annual “Holly Daze” celebrations this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 4-5).
A parade is slated for Friday starting at 6 p.m., with hot chocolate to be served afterwards.
As well, the St. Patrick’s C.W.L. in Emo will hold a Christmas tea and bake sale on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
Besides serving sandwiches, dainties, and tea/coffee, there also will be crafts, baking, religious articles, draws, and a white elephant table.
Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children aged 10 and under.
“Crafts Galore,” meanwhile, will take place at the Emo Legion on Saturday (donations for the penny table would be appreciated).

Jade Wright took part in a skating competition in Winnipeg over the weekend.
She placed fourth in the women’s entry level in elements (an event where the instructors tell you want to do) and then finished second in the free skate.
Proud grandparents Debbie and Walter Black and Della and Craig McQuaker were on hand to cheer her on.
Way to go, Jade, from your community!

Another Devlin athlete, Mike Badiuk, also had a good weekend.
Mike, who plays second on the Dylan Johnston rink (Port Arthur Curling Club), helped the team to a 5-1 record at the Inter Region junior playdowns in Atikokan.
They also qualified for the provincial showdown in Thunder Bay later this month.

Robin’s 2¢:
A strong, young man at a construction site was bragging that he could out-do anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workers.
After several minutes, the older worker had enough.
“I’ll bet you a week’s wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that building that you won’t be able to wheel back,” he said.
“You’re on, old man,” the bragger replied. “Let’s see you do it.”
The old man then reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles.
“All right, jerk,” he nodded to the young man. “Get in!”
