From ASKRRD
Press release

January marks Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to one of the most pressing health challenges of our time: Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This year, The Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts is dedicating its efforts to highlighting the critical role of research in improving the lives of those affected by dementia and supporting their caregivers, care partners. With over 1000 individuals in the Kenora/Rainy River Districts currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and thousands more impacted globally, advancing research is crucial in the quest for better prevention, treatment and care strategies. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of ongoing studies in unlocking answers that can improve the quality of life for individuals living with dementia. It also calls on communities to recognize the vale of participation in research studies, which help shape the future of dementia care.

Research is not just about finding a cure – it’s about understanding the journey of those living dementia, identifying ways to provide better care, and supporting caregivers along with the person with Dementia, “said Rossana Tomashowski, Executive Director, Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts. Through collaboration, education and innovation, we can build a future of hope for individuals and families impacted by Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
