It’s a record for Riverside Health’s December 50/50 Jackpot

Riverside Health Care has handed out the largest single-month 50/50 jackpot ever distributed by an organization in the Rainy River District at $27,952.50, a total it credited to strong and ongoing community support.

Julia (Charmaine) Herbert of Fort Frances took home the record-breaking pot, calling it a wonderful surprise that only reinforced her decision to continue supporting local draws for charitable causes.

“When she received the call, Herbert’s immediate reaction to hearing the jackpot total was, ‘That is honestly fantastic!’, a joyful and unexpected start to the New Year,” Riverside Heath said in a press release.

A regular 50/50 ticket purchaser and a strong advocate for community and health care close to home, Herbert said she frequently encourages friends and family to buy tickets, often sharing reminders on social media. “Come on, let’s get this bigger,” she said, emphasizing the importance of keeping support local and watching the jackpot grow.

An equal $27,952.50 will go directly toward Riverside’s Lights, Camera, DIAGNOSIS campaign, supporting the purchase of an MRI machine and new digital X-ray units at both La Verendrye General Hospital and the Rainy River Health Centre.

“Support from people like Charmaine, who understand that every ticket helps make a big impact, makes an incredible difference,” said Holly Kaemingh, Riverside’s director of fundraising. “This record-breaking draw is a powerful example of what our community can achieve together to support local health care.”
