Isolated incident forces closure of Rainy River ER overnight

An unforeseen, isolated incident resulted in the overnight closure of the Rainy River Emergency department.

Representatives at Riverside declined to specify the nature of the incident, but stated, “we do not anticipate this specific issue in the future.”

The ER closed shortly before 9 p.m. Monday evening, and re-opened at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. During the closure, all emergencies were routed through La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.

“Patient safety remains our top priority, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our community,” said a Riverside release announcing the closure.

Riverside expressed its appreciation for the public’s understanding.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may have caused, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.”
