The Emo and District Hospital Auxiliary’s “Shamrock Tea” saw about 80 people attend, helping them raise $700 towards the upgraded X-ray equipment there.
Marlene Deschamps won the door prize (shamrock plant).
It may have been the wonderful spring weather but many wore a little of the Irish green, making the day even more festive.
The auxiliary would like to thank the manor residents for their help and for the members who joined in to host this event. Thanks, as well, to all who donated baking and attended.
The local hospital auxiliary is celebrating its 25th year (1987-2012). Over the past quarter-century, the it has donated $146,285.37 to several hospital and Riverside projects.
The auxiliary is proud of its contribution, and would like to thank everyone in the community and from across the district for their outstanding support.

The St. Patrick’s Day stew supper hosted by the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fort Frances was well attended by members of the congregation and by people from across the district.
The funds raised at this popular event will go to missions and local charity work.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Emo also would like to thank the volunteers and supporters from across the district who made their St. Patrick’s Day roast beef supper so enjoyable.
The food was excellent, the music entertaining, and the draw baskets were totally amazing.

The local Alzheimer’s Society is looking for volunteers to sew lap-sized “Touch Quilts” for those afflicted with the disease.
These quilts are made of fabrics which provide tactile and visual stimulation.
When you’re in Emo, stop by the Hair and Body Care Shoppe to see a sample and to pick up an instruction sheet.
Donations of suitable fabrics also would be greatly appreciated.

This month’s men’s breakfast meeting, which took place Saturday at the Emo Legion, was well attended by men from across the district.
Guest speaker Rod Muir from Thunder Bay, past owner of Courtesy Freight Systems and a long-time businessman there, did not disappoint those on hand by speaking with passion about the power of committing their lives to Jesus Christ.
Muir has been one of the key people in organizing a very successful monthly luncheon meeting in Thunder Bay, where the Gospel is shared with business and professional men.
Next month’s breakfast meeting will take place on the third Saturday of the month (in conjunction with Spring Fever Days in Emo) and will feature local speaker Sonny Ferris.

This month’s “Country Jam” started out slowly with a few dedicated dancers in attendance. The crowd grew quickly as the evening progressed, however, until the Emo Legion was just about full.
Despite the fact that several musicians couldn’t attend, many thought it was one of the best “Jams” yet.
It may have been the positive effects of the good weather, but many dancers stayed out on the floor for most of the evening and were reluctant to go home even when the musicians started to pack up.
Watch for posters around town for information about upcoming “Country Jams.”
