An important meeting to usher in the 2009 slo-pitch season in Devlin is planned for tomorrow (April 30) at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in the municipal office.
All players are urged to attend.

With Mother’s Day coming up, the St. Patrick’s C.W.L. in Emo is planning a tea and bake sale on Saturday, May 9 from 1-3 p.m. at the church.
There will be baking, crafts, religious items, and much more.
A lunch of sandwiches, dainties, and a beverage also will be provided.

Alysa McTavish was honoured with a bridal shower on Sunday at the Devlin Hall, where a large crowd turned out to enjoy a delightful afternoon.
She will wed Dan Jones on June 20.

Cards played at the Devlin Hall last Tuesday were won by Agie Waldeck and Larry Kellar, with the low going to Lorna Robinson and Bob Meyers.

Sympathy is extended to the many family and friends of Jim Teeple, whose unexpected passing last week has left many district residents in sadness and shock.

Cribbage played at the Emo Legion last week saw the high going to Jan Hyatt and Mary Gavin, with Adelia Guba and Agie Waldeck taking the low score.
Dixie Kinnear won the draw.

The Emo Legion’s monthly 50/50 draw was made April 24. It was won by Chris Smith, who pocketed $790.

A teenager brought her new boyfriend home to meet her parents, who were appalled by his haircut, tattoos, and piercings.
Later, the girl’s mom said, “Dear, he doesn’t seem to be a very nice boy.”
“Oh, please, Mom,” replied the daughter. “If he wasn’t nice, would he be doing 500 hours of community service?”
