On Feb. 29, at approximately 9:13 p.m., officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting regular traffic duties and initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 105, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
While investigating the vehicles speed, the officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver failed, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, a 43 year old British Columbia man was charged with Operation while impaired. He was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court.
