Identity of crash victim revealed

The Dryden OPP investigation into a single motor vehicle collision which occurred at 12:30 a.m. Monday on Highway 17, 1.3 km west of Blue Lake Road in Vermilion Bay, has been completed.
A tractor-trailer unit hauling a load of particle board was eastbound on Highway 17 when it drifted into the westbound lane and struck a rock cut on the north side of the highway.
The tractor-trailer unit caught on fire, completely closing the highway to traffic flow.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was killed in the collision.
He was identified as Walter P. Ietswaard, age 29 of Owen Sound Ontario. Highway 17 was closed for approximately eight hours.
The cause of the accident remains unknown.
Meanwhile, an O.P.P. cruiser was involved in a single motor vehicle accident yesterday morning on Highway 17, 20 km west of Ignace.
Cst. Marty Singleton of the Ignace detachment took evasive action to miss a deer on the highway causing the cruiser to roll over.
Cst. Singleton was transported to Dryden Hospital and treated for minor injuries and then released.
