Three Ontario hunters have been fined a total of $1,800 for leaving building materials and litter at their moose hunt camp in a conservation reserve.
Kevin Derbyshire, 42, of Leamington, Leslie Arnew, 74, of Comber, and James Arnew, 72, of Wheatley each were fined $600 for leaving garbage at a campsite in the Lac Seul Islands Conservation Reserve, east of Ear Falls.
Court heard that in October, 2007, the men were camping on an island in Bannatyne Bay on Lac Seul while they hunted moose.
When they left the campsite, they left behind building materials and litter.
The men previously had been warned by a conservation officer after not cleaning up their campsite.
Justice of the Peace Roger McCraw heard the case March 11 in Red Lake.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds hunters that it is illegal to leave hunt camp materials and garbage at a campsite.
