At last month’s Chapple council meeting, Gerd O’Sullivan had been appointed alternate CEMC.
But O’Sullivan respectfully declined due to the possibility of the clerks from Emo and Chapple being away at the same time and so the chance that a CEMC would be required in both communities at once was a concern.
As such, Dorothy Huitikka was appointed as alternate CEMC for Chapple and that she attend training in Thunder Bay, with her expenses being paid.
Also at the council meeting, a question was raised as to the tenders for the flowers. The clerk reported that when the tender was released, it was for the care and maintenance of the flowers, not for the flowers themselves.
As it is common practice to request prices from various providers, township staff had proceeded to obtain the prices and will make their results known to council.
Meanwhile, Fire Chief Larry Hunsperger reported to council concerning the proposed training schedules for the firefighters.
Later, Roads Superintendent Jim Teeple reported on work being done in Chapple over the past month, adding some problems have come to light over some of our bridges.
Council later approved a motion that a tender be put out for the work to be done on the bridges.
The clerk also was authorized to prepare the budget using the total tax rates as established in 2002.
