Fire destroyed a home on Highway 602, about eight km south of Emo, around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
No one was home at the time of the fire, Emo OPP said.
The fire is not considered suspicious, added police, noting the cause of blaze remains under investigation by the Emo Volunteer Fire Department.
In other police news, a motor vehicle accident occurred Friday around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 11 just west of Fort Frances.
The highway had to closed to only one lane of traffic for about 10 minutes due to the accident, police said, which occurred when a westbound car slowed to turn left and was struck from the rear by a pickup truck.
The occupant of the car was taken to La Verendrye hospital, where she was admitted for observation, police noted. The driver of the pickup reported no injuries.
The collision is under investigation.
And police were busy on the weekend with multiple arrests involving alcohol consumption.
At 4:42 p.m. on Friday, Fort Frances OPP responded to the 200 block of Scott Street following a report of a male passed out in the alley.
The 22-year-old Weagamow Lake FNT man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released unconditionally.
At 1:01 a.m. on Saturday, Fort Frances OPP responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Scott Street. A 25-year-old Fort Frances man subsequently was arrested following an altercation at a local bar.
He was charged with breach of undertaking, and was released from custody to appear in court here April 19.
Then at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, Fort Frances OPP responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Scott Street, where a 43-year-old Stratton man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
He was released unconditionally.
And at 2:14 .am. on Sunday, Fort Frances OPP arrested and charged a 45-year-old Couchiching man with being intoxicated in a public place.
He, too, was released unconditionally.
