‘Holly Daze’ all set to go

“Holly Daze” activities, organized by the Emo Chamber of Commerce, are all set to go up at the fairgrounds this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7), where an outdoor rink has been completed with the help of the weatherman.
Emo’s municipal maintenance crew, led by Danny Wilson, certainly got what they needed—cold weather conditions.
Colleen Vennechenko, president of the Emo Chamber of Commerce, said Santa will be making an appearance at the outdoor rink Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
Youngsters also can have their picture taken with Santa.
While there is no charge for this, Vennechenko said a donation for the food bank would be appreciated.
People are being invited to strap on their skates and come skating, or sit by the bonfire and watch the skaters. The Emo Rec Council and Chamber also will be serving hot chocolate and cookies.
Meanwhile, Harold Kellar and his team of horses will be offering sleigh rides Saturday from 4-6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display around 7.
Again this year, the Chamber will be giving away $500 in Emo Bucks, so be sure to stop in at the different businesses to register.
The draw is slated Saturday at 4 p.m. at the outdoor rink.
Meanwhile, a Christmas lights decoration contest once again is being held in conjunction with “Holly Daze,” with three different categories: most Christmas spirit, most well lit, and most original.
A prize of $100 in Emo Bucks will be awarded in each category.
Registrations can be picked up at the Village Variety, CIBC, KP Computers, or the Corner Closet, or call Tammy Kinnear (482-2306) or Vennechenko (482-2171).
Of course, Emo merchants also will be offering in-store deals, specials, and draws during “Holly Daze,” so be sure to “Shop Emo, it’s worth the drive.”
