Hockey tourney in works for holidays

The Friends of the Emo-La Vallee Community Centre is planning a 3-on-3 hockey tournament on Dec. 27-28 to raise funds for the arena.
The cost of entering a team, comprised of nine players and one goalie, will be $300. There will be a maximum of six teams in each of the three divisions: Atom, PeeWee, and Bantam.
The organizing committee also is looking for donations to the penny table. If you have anything you’d like to donate, call Lucille at 486-1251 or you can drop items off at the arena.

The Borderland Community Orchestra will present its “Holly Daze” Christmas concert, with special guests the DYS “Seussical” cast, this Friday (Dec. 5) at 7:30 p.m. at Donald Young School.
Admission is $6 for adults, with children under 12 being free. Proceeds to go towards the drama program at DYS.
There also will be a Scholastic book fair held in conjunction with the concert, so come out, enjoy the music, and purchase a for someone special this Christmas.

The local Right Relations Circle will be hosting a potluck feast at Knox United Church in Emo on Dec. 18. The theme for the event is “Getting to know your neighbour.”
Everyone is welcome to attend—just bring along a dish to share.

The Emo Centennial Choir, along with director Renée Martin-Brown and accompanist Lisa Vos, will present an evening of Christmas music and readings, entitled “Hark, A Glad Sound,” on Monday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo.
A free-will offering will be taken, and everyone is welcome!

Don’t forget that St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Emo will be holding its Christmas tea this Saturday (Dec. 6) from 1-3 p.m. in the church hall.
Admission is $3, and there also will be baking, religious articles, mini-draws, crafts etc.
The tea is sponsored by the St. Patrick’s C.W.L., and everyone is invited to attend.

The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo will be holding its annual seniors’ Christmas supper this Sunday (Dec. 7) starting at 5:30 p.m.
The cost of the supper is $6, with take-out order to be available starting at 4:30 p.m.
