Heyens captures Fair Queen crown

Kaylee Heyens of Stratton was crowned the 2011 Emo Fair Queen last night following the entertainment portion of the competition upstairs at the Emo Arena.
Sarah Glover earned the title of First Princess while Chelsea Mosley is this year’s Second Princess.
Also vying for the crown were Elizabeth Steele and Haley Trimble.
“It’s been such an amazing experience,” Heyens enthused after the crowning.
“I’m so excited to see that all the hard work paid off.”
Glover also won the Dorothy Bonot Award while Mosley was designated as “Miss Congeniality,” as voted on by contestants themselves.
“This year was really great,” said Fair Queen committee member Sis McCormick.
“The girls were amazing. They all worked so hard.”
Last year’s Emo Fair royalty of Queen Megan Veniot, First Princess Elysia Huitikka, and Second Princess Hillary Brown also were on hand last night to assist with the crowning.
Prior to the start of the entertainment segment, 12 youngsters competed for the title of this year’s Mini-King and Mini-Queen, with Zack Simmons and Kallahan LeBlanc taking home the crowns.
All the new royals will participate in the fair parade tomorrow, which gets underway at noon.
