Health unit closes two beaches

Both the Morley Park Beach and Barwick Beach were closed to swimmers Thursday by the Northwestern Health Unit because of high levels of bacteria there.
Signs were posted indicating the two beaches were “Unsafe for Swimming” due to high bacterial counts found during routine sampling.
The beaches will remain close until satisfactory results are obtained, the health unit said.
Morley Beach was closed once before earlier this month, while Hannam Park Beach in Rainy River and the beach at Sunny Cove Camp were closed last month.
The beach at Pither’s Point here was still open to swimmers as of press time Friday.
