Tess Coish, of Tess’ Kitchen here, is getting her Hallowe’en spirit on by building a haunted backyard for kids to enjoy next Friday night.
Coish always has loved Hallowe’en, and has been truly disappointed with the number of kids who have come to her home over the years. Last year only two showed up trick-or-treating.
She’s said that Hallowe’en isn’t as popular as it once was and that kids really don’t go door-to-door anymore, instead going only to homes of people they already know looking to score a big load of candy.
So Coish, along with her husband, Robert, as well as Kathleen Matheson, Cathy Cox, and Cathy Richards, is hoping her backyard haunt really will draw in the numbers and rejuvenate the love for her favourite holiday.
There’s no word yet on what actually will be going on there as all events are going to be kept top secret, but Coish assured it definitely will be scary.
So far, help has been offered and goodies have been donated by a few local people and organizations, but Coish is looking for even more help from the community.
Specifically, she’s looking for more goodies and giveaways to really tempt the kids to come out for a good time.

Bags will be supplied for kids who show up, but they must come in full costume.
Without costumes, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun, she reasoned.
“It’s going to be as scary as can be,” Coish vowed. “And it’s dark out there.”
