Harvest supper a success

Dave Ogilvie

Organizers report that Guthrie United Church’s annual “Harvest Supper” on Sunday was a success again this year.
About 300 people from across the district enjoyed a fantastic meal of turkey, ham, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salads, buns, and lots of mouth-watering desserts.
The nearly $3,000 raised will go towards maintaining the church building in the coming year.
The congregation would like to thank the volunteers who helped and everyone for attending their annual fundraiser.

Just a reminder that the 3:16 Club has started and will run every Wednesday from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church (next to Borderland Esso).
Students from SK-Grade 5 are welcome, and can meet Mr. Enns at the DYS flagpole after school for the short walk to the church.
This free club features games, snacks, Bible stories, singing, and activities with caring teens and adults. The theme this year is “God Is!”
We will be learning the answers to the questions such as “Who is God?” and “What is He Like?”
For more information, contact Carmela Klug at 482-3157.

The first presentation of the Border Concert Association’s 2011-2012 season took place on Friday (Sept. 30) at the Backus Auditorium over in International Falls.
Those on hand were treated to a fantastic concert by “Street Corner Symphony,” a male a capella group which finished in second place on last year’s NBC television show, “The Sing-Off.”
Tickets for the concert series, which cost $45 for adults, $95 for a family (two adults and school-age youth), and $10 for students (with school ID), will be available at the next concert on Nov. 1.
With five concerts remaining in the series, it still is an excellent deal.
