Ham, turkey supper slated Sunday

A ham and turkey supper, complete with all the fixings, will be held this Sunday (May 16) at the Dance Hall.
The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children, with those five and under eating free.

Get-well wishes are extended to Jean Bragg, who suffered a stroke last week and is now in hospital in Virginia, Mn.
Best wishes, as well, to Jason Ogier, who also suffered a stroke last week.
Our community wishes both Jean and Jason a full and speedy recovery.

Congratulations to Shawn and Tracey Hyatt on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
They were honoured with a party on Saturday evening, which many family members and friends attended.
The couple’s children, Jeff and Kari, both came home from out west to share in the happy occasion.

The next “Country Jam” at the Emo Legion will take place this Friday (May 14).

A reminder the next Bingo at the Emo Legion will be held next Tuesday (May 18).

Card winners at the Emo Legion last week were Rene Kivell and Darlene Bruce, with the low going to Agnes Waldeck and Mary Gavin.
Darlene Bruce also won the draw.

A concert featuring the band “Country Blend” will be held next Friday (May 21) starting at 7 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
This band, which has been here previously, plays a wide variety of old country music.
As well, one of the band members shares his comedic talent with the audience. “Gordie” has travelled the world with Bob Hope and is a very funny guy.
Tickets for the concert cost $20 each, which are available at several businesses in Emo as well as at Greensides Store here in Devlin.
Proceeds will go towards the new X-ray machine at the Emo Health Centre.

A giant garage sale is planned for this Saturday (May 15) from 8 a.m.-noon at Guthrie United Church across from Greensides.
Numerous items are up for grabs so there definitely will be something for everyone!

Don’t forget the annual Emo Walleye Classic is coming up May 27-29.
A ham-and-meatball supper, prepared by members from several churches in Emo, is planned for the Friday (May 28) from 5-8 p.m. at the Emo Arena.
Tickets cost $12 for adults, which can be purchased at The Corner Closet, Tompkins, Village Variety, and Meyers Clothing.
Proceeds will assist the Emo food bank and Sunny Cove Camp for children this summer.

A reminder that Monday, May 17 is a P.A. Day for all district students.

A spring tea is planned for next Friday (May 21) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo.
The luncheon will include soup, sandwiches, dessert, and coffee, and there also will be baking and craft tables.
