A sure sign that fall is upon us is the traditional harvest supper hosted by the Guthrie United Church congregation here in Devlin.
This year’s supper is planned for Sunday, Oct. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
The cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children aged six-12, with those five and under admitted free.
I was out to garage sales over the weekend and several folks asked me when this event was happening.
So there’s your proof that you don’t want to miss this delicious meal, not to mention the hospitality and mingling with friends.
All proceeds will assist Guthrie United Church with its expenses.

Robin’s 2¢:
A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a scotch with two drops of water.
As the bartender gives her the drink, she said, “I’m on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it’s today.”
“Well, since it’s your birthday, I’ll buy you a drink,” replied the bartender. “In fact, this one’s on me.”
As the woman finished her drink, the woman on her right bought her a drink. This continued with several people in the bar buying her one.
Each time she ordered a scotch “with two drops of water.”
As the bartender gave her the fifth drink, he asked, “I’m dying of curiosity. Why the scotch with only two drops of water?”
The old woman replied, “Sonny, when you’re my age, you’ve learned how to hold your liquor.
“Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue.”
