Guthrie United set to host ‘Spring Fling’

Guthrie United Church in Devlin will host its annual “Spring Fling” and tea this Sunday (April 22) from 2-4 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
There also will be a bake sale, penny table, and silent auction, with admission being $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12.
Anyone with donations for the penny table or silent auction is asked to drop them off at Greensides or the Devlin post office.

Winners of last Wednesday’s card games at the Emo Legion were Rita Woodland and Adelia Guba, with the low score going to Marilyn McDonald and Merv Hyatt.
Doris Dyson won the draw.

Cards played at the Devlin Hall last week saw the high score going to Micky McKinnon and Norbert Bragg, with MaryLou Allan and Bob McLean taking the low.
The last card game of the season will be held next Tuesday (April 24).

Congratulations to Nathan Shute and Angela Macri on their engagement. A January, 2013 wedding in Puerto Vallarta has been planned.
Nathan currently is living in Yellowknife.

The Crossroads Tornadoes boys’ basketball team captured the gold medal at the Jim Oster Memorial tournament held Saturday at Robert Moore School in Fort Frances.
The squad went undefeated to finish first out of the eight competing teams.
A huge congratulations to team members Jacob Empey, Joey Angus, Zander Chalupsky, Ross Steel, Isaac Smith, Cole Kowalski, Dawson Caul, and Justin Angus.
