Gull presentation planned

Join park guide Mary Jo Eisenach this Friday (Aug. 10) for a fun-filled presentation about the gulls of Voyageurs National Park.
Learn about the unique role of gulls in the park, including some ways they are a little like us.
Meet Mary Jo and her friend, Henrietta the Herring Gull, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Woodenfrog State Forest campground refectory.
When asked how she met Henrietta, Mary Jo replied, “I had just seen a gull, and referred to her as a sea gull.
“The bird, aghast at being referred to as a ‘SEA-gull,’ adjusted her ruffled feathers and proceeded to introduce herself. ‘I am a Herring Gull,’ she huffed, sounding annoyed with me for calling her a sea gull.
‘Please don’t call me a SEA-gull,’ she said.”
The free Friday evening programs are given every week this summer at the Woodenfrog State Forest campground refectory near Kabetogama.
Programs are sponsored by the Friends of Voyageurs National Park. No fee or registration is required to attend.
