The Emo Legion will host its annual Good Friday fish fry this Friday (April 6) from 5-7 p.m. (take-out orders available from 4:30-5 p.m.)
The menu includes walleye, coleslaw, wild rice casserole, baked beans, cream corn, pie, and beverage, with admission costing $13 for adults and $5 for kids six and under.
Come out and enjoy a good meal and socializing.

The Guthrie United Church spring tea and auction is set for Sunday, April 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
The event will feature tea, a bake sale, penny table, and silent auction, with admission being $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12.
Anyone with donations for the penny table or silent auction is asked to drop them off at Greensides General Store or the Devlin post office, or call Pam at 486-3634 or Trudy at 486-3550.

Cribbage played at the Emo Legion last week saw Adeila Guba win the high while Rudy Meyers took the low.

Bard Redford is enjoying a two-week trip to northern England to visit her cousin, Norma.
Also travelling recently were Arlene Rea and Joanne Hyatt, who enjoyed a trip to Laughin, Nev.

The Devlin youth baseball league will be starting up the first week of May (weather permitting). Kids in Grades 4-6 will play Wednesday evenings.

There is equipment available for T-ball, as well as other age groups.

Borderland Thunder Baseball is recruiting players born in 1997 or 1998 to play in the 2012 season.
They also are looking for interested coaches or umpires.

The Crossroads boys’ and girls’ basketball teams competed in tournaments on Saturday.
Both teams went undefeated during round-robin play. Alas, both lost in their respective finals (the girls losing to Riverview and the boys to Sturgeon Creek), making it silver-medal showings for the Crossroads Tornados.

500 was enjoyed on March 27 at the Devlin Hall, with the high score going to Jim and Yvonne Kellar.
Dixie Kinnear and Rudy Meyers had the low.
The next card party is planned for April 10 at the Devlin Hall.

Ross and Ann-Jane Anderson are pleased to announce the upcoming wedding of their son, Paul, to Josa Porter.
A May 5 wedding will take place in beautiful Muskoka, Ont.
The Andersons will host a local wedding reception this summer in Emo.

Happy 70th birthday wishes to Len McCormick on April 5. Friends and family celebrated with a gathering this past weekend.
As well, a happy 60th birthday to Glenda Belluz on March 31. She was especially joyful to have her son, Travis, his wife, Gen, and their children, Hunter and Olivia, in from Calgary to celebrate with her.

Once again our community has been saddened by two passings.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends on the sudden passing of Wes Smith, who will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
Also grieving this week is the family and friends of Jeanine Shine. I have known Jeanine for many, many years from baby-sitting her and Harvey’s children to her socializing with my parents.
Then for the last 10 years, I’ve been seeing her at T.O.P.S. group every Monday night.
Jeanine was a quiet and steadfast women, but accomplished much in her life from volunteering for Special Olympics to continuing her education later in life.
Our local T.O.P.S. group has suffered a great loss, as well as the rest of the community. Jeanine, you will be greatly missed!
