Good Friday fish fry planned in Emo

The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo will hold its annual Good Friday fish fry on April 10 from 5-7 p.m.
The meal will consist of walleye, mashed potatoes, potato salad, baked beans, wild rice casserole, buns, pie, tea, and coffee.
The cost is $13 for adults and $5 for children six and under, with take-outs orders available before 4 p.m.

A perogy sale will be held Saturday, April 18 at the Rejuvenate Fitness Centre in Emo in conjunction with “Spring Fever Days” festivities.
The cost is $3.50/dozen, with proceeds going to St. George’s Anglican Church in Emo.

The third-annual Rejuvenate 5K walk/run is being held Saturday, April 18, also as part of “Spring Fever Days,” starting at 9 a.m. in front of the Rejuvenate Fitness Centre on Front Street here in Emo.
Registration will take place between 8:15 and 8:50 a.m.
The cost of registration is $10, with proceeds going to the Emo spray park fund.

Guthrie United Church in Devlin will be holding its “Spring Fling” and auction on Sunday, April 19 from 2-4 p.m. in the Devlin Hall.
Coffee and dessert will be served, and there also will be a penny table and bake sale.
The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12. There’s something for everyone, so come out, have some fun, and support the church.

The Emo Walleye Classic is looking for interested individuals/groups to be outside vendors during the 2009 tournament (which runs May 28-30).
This is an excellent money-making opportunity.

The EWC also is looking for volunteers to help out with this year’s tournament, including students who may need hours in order to graduate from high school.

A “Tribute to the Legends of Country Music” will be held Friday, April 24 at the Emo Legion starting at 7 p.m.
The group “Country Blend,” which has recorded six CDs, will be performing the music of Dolly, Patsy, Loretta, Kitty, Jeannie, Del Wood, Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash, the Statler Brothers, Willie Nelson, and many more.
Tickets cost $20 each, which will be available at Dev-Lynne’s, Greenside’s General Store, Cloverleaf, Emo Laundromat, Fort Frances Times, 364 Store, Northwoods Gallery & Gift, Rainy River Record, Stratton Community Store, and Barwick Village Restaurant.
There will be a cash bar, and a light lunch will be provided.
