The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary will be holding a tag day at Cloverleaf in Emo this Friday afternoon (April 16) and again on Front Street on Saturday (April 17).
Money raised will go towards upgrading the existing X-ray equipment at the Emo Health Centre.
The equipment is on order and should be in by April 19—and fully functional as soon as the necessary training has been completed.
The price tag for the new equipment will be $45,000-$50,000. But at the moment, the hospital auxiliary only has $5,000 saved towards this project.
As such, they would appreciate everyone’s support as they try to raise the rest of the funds.
If there’s a community group that would like to help or contribute in any way, the auxiliary would be more than glad to hear from you.
The new digital equipment will be a great addition to the Emo Health Centre.
The digital system will allow X-rays to be sent immediately, with the results returning within two days.
When you see the Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary members out collecting money, thank them for their hard work and make a healthy contribution to this worthwhile cause.

The next men’s breakfast meeting will be held this Saturday (April 17) at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion.
The $10 buffet breakfast will feature guest speaker Wally Detweiler from Morson.
Detweiler, a long-time resident of Morson, was born and raised in Iowa.
But travelling with a singing quartet as a young man, he was introduced to this area and chose to make it his home.
He has served a vital role in servicing resorts in his area, and also has provided important church leadership in his community.

The new season of the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market in Fort Frances begins Saturday, May 8.
Interest in the market is growing every year, and this year may prove to be the best yet.
Organizers still are looking for new producers and artisans who are interested in becoming part of the market.
If you are interested or know someone who is, call Deb Cornell at 486-3409 for more information and to register for a table.
Organizers also are interested in attracting more performers to the farmers’ market in 2010.
Buskers add so much to the general atmosphere of the market that once booked, the CVFM will kick in the first $20 to help them get their day off to a good start.
Any performers interested in displaying their talents at the farmers’ market over the summer also are invited to call Cornell.
In other news, several of the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market vendors, directors, and patrons attended the first-ever northern food conference in Thunder Bay in early March.
They all came back with a renewed sense of enthusiasm about the importance of local food.
Consumers are reminded the market offers a wide variety of local agricultural and homemade products.
This facility, since its incorporation in 1993, has provided an excellent location for numerous businesses and individuals to sell produce, baked goods, crafts, and greenhouse products.
So be sure to mark May 8 on your calendar and make a point of dropping by the farmers’ market (located on McIrvine Road directly behind Canadian Tire) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Country Lane bulk food store on Front Street in Emo now has an “in-store” bakery.
Besides offering a wide range of products, such as baking powder, baking chips, drink mixes, flour, oats, instant puddings, rice, salt, soup bases, sugar, wheat products, and more than 70 different kinds of spices, Country Lane Foods now offers fresh bread and other delicious baking.

Guthrie United Church in Devlin is holding its annual “Spring Fling” and auction on Sunday, April 25 at the Devlin Hall.
Organizers are looking for both penny table and auction items.
