Fryer new principal at OLW

There are a few new faces on staff at Our Lady of the Way in Stratton for the 2003-04 school year.
Ron Fryer, who taught at OLW just a few years ago, comes in as the new principal. He also will be teaching the Grade 7/8 class with Donna Davidson.
Welcome to Shana McInnis, an education assistant to the staff.
OLW’s staff for 2003-04 also includes Sue Vandenbrand (JK/SK), Linda Budreau (Grade 1/2), Janice Lee (Grade 3/4), Nicole Wood (Grade 5/6), Ilene Indian (Ojibwe), Patrick Tougas (Special Ed/Core French), and Dianna Gamsby (Speech/Language).
Support staff includes Eileen Armstrong, Wanda Heyens, Dorothy Sharp, Elaine Medicine, Edna Brown, and Sarah Hunter.
Laura Haner is the school secretary while Blaine Frenette is the custodian.
Open house will be held last Wednesday (Sept. 17) from 4-6 p.m. Everyone was invited to come and meet the new principal and staff.
Nomination forms for school council are available at the school office. Anyone interested in serving as a member is invited to pick one up.
In other news, students and staff at OLW attended a welcome mass on Sept. 15, officiated by Bishop Fred Colli of the Thunder Bay diocese. The theme was “Coming Together,” which was prepared by Janice Lee and her Grade 3/4 students.
The mass also was celebrated by Fr. James Panikulum.
Guests included John Madigan, education director for the Northwest Catholic District School Board, and David Sharp, the previous principal at OLW who now is the board’s new Students-at-Risk co-ordinator.
