The Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s annual Christmas appeal has hit the mail.
This year, the Foundation has set their sights “Tower” high with a goal to raise $43,000 for the purchase of a new MIS Tower for Riverside Health Care Facilities’ operating room.
An MIS Tower includes all the necessary components to allow surgeons to perform a multitude of laparoscopic procedures such as gall bladder, appendix or large intestine removal, hernia repairs, tubal ligation, and knee surgeries without the risks or drawbacks of open surgery.
The patient benefits from smaller incisions, decreased risk of complications and a shorter recovery period with less pain.
Riverside General Surgeons use the current MIS equipment on a weekly basis; however, it is becoming obsolete with parts no longer available to support repairs.
This is the surgical approach and technology that is preferred by our surgeons.
An upgrade in equipment will not only lead to better outcomes for our patients, but will allow our surgeons to continue to offer laparoscopic surgery and offers the potential to expand the breadth of surgical procedures offered close to home while assisting with surgeon retention and recruitment.
Those wishing to give can easily do so by filling out and returning their pledge card that is included in the appeal mailed out the week of Nov. 18.
If you did not receive an appeal in the mail, donations can be made by calling the Foundation office at 274-4803 or visiting the office in the lobby of LVGH in person.
‘Trim the Tree’
The Foundation is also excited to announce a brand new way to give this year through the “Trim the Tree Campaign.”
Holiday cheer will be spread throughout LVGH with the addition of a 10-foot tree in the main lobby.
Your help is needed to get the tree decorated. Ornaments for the tree will be available to purchase for $5, $10 or $20.
Once purchased, messages can be written on the ornament that will be added to the tree.
Ornaments can be purchased for oneself, in memory of or in honour of a loved one or in appreciation of a Riverside staff member. They also make a great gift!
The “Trim the Tree Campaign” will kick off during the LVGH Auxiliary lobby sale on Friday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Come to the lobby of LVGH to see the tree, purchase an ornament and support the auxiliary through their many sales tables.
Afterwards, ornaments will be available for purchase at the Foundation office, in the LVGH Auxiliary gift shop or over the phone by calling the Foundation office at 274-4803.
