Flower, vegetable show to be at market

Press Release

This Saturday (Aug. 11), Clover Valley Farmers’ Market will be hosting the annual Fort Frances Horticultural Society’s Flower and Vegetable Show.
Society members have worked hard all season nurturing a bountiful harvest and wish to display it for the community.
View the society’s prize plants and discuss the season’s progress with society members.
Support the society by donating in exchange for refreshments and homemade dainties.
Are you a avid gardener? The horticultural society will be selling memberships this Saturday.
The society has been operating in Fort Frances for close to half a century. Their community projects include planting and maintaining the courtyards at Rainycrest Long Term Care, and presenting educational workshops.
Market manager Deb Cornell is excited to host the annual flower and garden show again.
“The market is pleased to continue its long-standing relationship with the Horticultural Society,” said Cornell. “Our collaboration is an effective way to promote gardening.”
Our newest vendor at the market is Todd and Joanna Richards, whose vegetable business, “From the Ground Up,” is located south of Devlin.
The Richards are promoting a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) marketing initiative on their farm.
They sell annual shares of the harvest from their two acre garden. This Saturday, they will be taking orders for the 2013 season.
You can discuss their growing methods at market and ask them about egg and meat shares.
Thank you to all customers and vendors who participated in the Canada Food Day celebration this past weekend.
The market was bustling with many customers and a building full of vendors.
Congratulations to Gladys Martin who won the draw for the free Healthy Food Box.
Stay tuned for the 2013 August long weekend and the market’s next celebration of Canada Food Day.
Stop and smell the roses (literally!) this Saturday at the farmers’ market.
The market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and is located north of Canadian Tire on McIrvine Road.
