First concert at Cornell Farms slated

The first barn concert of the season at Cornell Farms will be R&B singer Mark Reeves on Monday, June 11 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Mark won a scholarship to Boston’s Berklee College of Music at 19, paid his dues in the blues clubs, made a record with Los Lobos producer Keith Keller at Keller’s mansion in New Orleans, won a sackful of awards, and warmed up stages for everyone from Robert Cray and Blue Rodeo to Colin James and Jesse Winchester.
It’s been said that if Bonnie Raitt and Lyle Lovett had a love child, Mark Reeves would be it.
Mark is a rare, blazingly-talented artist who leaves unsuspecting audiences slack-jawed and eager for more.
Tickets cost $15 in advance (available at the Fort Frances Public Library, Tompkins Hardware, and Cornell Farms) and $20 at the door.

The Rainy River Future Development Corp.’s annual meeting will be held Tuesday, June 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
There will be an election for the three three-year positions on the board of directors, followed by a report of the activities of the RRFDC.
Refreshments and snacks will follow the general meeting.
RRFDC memberships cost $5 but must be paid 10 days in advance if you would like to vote at this meeting.
Everyone is welcome to come out to learn more about the RRFDC.

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary is holding its annual “Strawberry Social” on Friday, June 15 from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Emo Health Centre cafeteria.
Admission is $5.
Come out for some great strawberry shortcake and coffee/tea, as well as to socialize with friends from across the district.
The “lawn chair draw” also will take place at this time.
Let’s support the auxiliary and their work in our local hospital.
