The number of fires in the Northwest Region continues to dwindle.
There were no new fires over the weekend and six active blazes have gone “out.”
This leaves just two active fires in the region—Red Lake Fires #17 and #29.
Both are “lightning-caused” and classed as “being observed.”
The forest fire hazard is “low” across the western sectors of the region, but remains “moderate to high” in the southern and eastern sectors.
Windy conditions were forecast for today.
In related news, Ontario is expecting the return of all resources from B.C. this week.
There 21 FireRangers and one agency representative currently on assignment there are scheduled to be released for travel back to Ontario on Thursday.
