A Missouri man faces several charges after Canada Border Services Agency officers found an undeclared firearm in his vehicle at the Fort Frances port of entry.
Charles Russell Phillips of Unionville sought entry to Canada to go to his cabin on June 24.
During a secondary examination, border services officers found a loaded .22 calibre revolver in the glove compartment of his truck.
The gun was seized and Phillips was arrested.
He was charged with non-report of goods, wilful evasion, possession of illegally-imported goods, and smuggling
Phillips was released on a $300 (U.S.) recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court here July 27.
This is the eighth handgun seized at the Fort Frances port of entry so far this year.
Last month, a Florida man was charged after officers seized four undeclared handguns and 10 over-capacity magazines at the Rainy River port of entry.
Scott Pieper, 54, of Venice, sought entry into Canada to bring his boat up to his summer cabin for the season.
During the secondary examination of his vehicle, CBSA officers found a black case containing an undeclared handgun and some loose ammunition.
The officers continued their search and discovered three additional handguns, as well as 10 over-capacity magazines all containing ammunition.
