A one-hectare fire was burning on Nowhere Island on Rainy Lake at last report.
Fort Frances Fire #20 was listed as “not under control,” according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
It was reported at 6:30 p.m. yesterday, and first was attended by the Watten Fire Volunteer Department.
MNRF firefighters arrived at the scene later on.
No other information was available as of press time.
Meanwhile, a prescribed burn on Korpi Road, in the Sakwite Lake, was planned for ignition today.
It will regenerate the forest by removing blowdown.
For safety reasons, people are advised to stay away from this area ahead of the ignition and then post-ignition, due to smoky conditions, fire suppression traffic, and risk due to fire activity.
