Fire hazard on the rise

    No new fires were reported in Northwestern Ontario in the past 24 hours, but the forest fire hazard on the rise as sunny weather begins to dry the forest out.
    Dry sunny weather, forecast for the remainder of the week, is expected to result in a marked increase in the forest fire hazard.
 Smoke from several large fires in northern Manitoba is expected to be present in the Red Lake, Kenora and Sioux Lookout Districts over the next few days.

 People are reminded that during the fire season there is no day burning allowed for brush or grass fires. Under the Forest Fires Prevention Act of Ontario such fires are to be started no sooner than two hours before sunset and are to be put out no later than two hours after sunrise.
    Campfires are allowed during the day but like the other outdoor fires they must be kept small, they are to be attended at all times and put dead out before leaving the site.
