No new fires were reported in the Northwest Region yesterday while one other blaze was declared “out.”
Nipigon Fire #29, a human-caused fire about 25 km northeast of Longlac, first was reported Wednesday.
It reached 0.2 hectares in size but being extinguished.
There currently are 12 active fires in the region, including nine in Sioux Lookout District, one in Red Lake District, and two in Nipigon District.
The forest fire hazard is “moderate” to “high” across most of the region.
Cloud cover and some rain in the forecast for the far north is predicted to drop the hazards to a “low” and “moderate” range there.
