The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has lifted the Restricted Fire Zone that had been in place across Northwestern Ontario since May 7.
Outdoor fires are now allowed but people still are urged to use caution.
As well, daytime burning of brush or grass is prohibited.
Visit ontario.ca/fireprevention for guidelines on safe outdoor fire management.
If you live in an organized municipality, check with local officials about bylaws on burning.
The MNRF said the co-operation of people during this extended fire ban has helped it deal with major wildland fires that threatened people, property, and industry.
A number of people did violate the RFZ, however, and received warnings and fines.
No new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
The Northwest Region fire information hotline (1-888-258-8842) is available for general information updates.
Report forest fires by calling 310-FIRE (3473).
