With the fire hazard currently “low” across the region, the Restricted Fire Zone was to be assessed later today for the potential to lift it.
No new fires were reported over the weekend.
As well, widespread rain fell across the region Saturday and Sunday, which kept all of the active fires in check.
Kenora Fire #18 now is listed as “under control” at 1,885 hectares in size.
The MNRF is in the process of demobilizing resources there.
Sioux Lookout Fire #6 also is “under control” at 52 ha.
Thunder Bay Fire #19, meanwhile, was listed as “being held” at 868 ha at last report.
Firefighters from Wisconsin currently are deployed there.
But Red Lake Fire #3 remains listed as “not under control” at 74,334 ha.
Some 40 firefighters from B.C. currently are assigned to this blaze.
