Fewer fires burning

The total number of active fires in the Northwest Region has dropped.
The number dipped from 53 to 49, the majority of which are in the Nipigon and Sioux Lookout districts.
None are burning in Fort Frances District.
Two remain listed as “not under control,” five are “under control,” and the remaining 42 fires are “being observed.”
The forest fire hazard is forecast to be “low” in the western part of the region and “moderate” in the eastern sectors.
