Few fires over weekend

Just one new fire was confirmed yesterday in the Northwest Region.
Kenora Fire #51 was a 0.1-hectare blaze that was caused by a tree on a power line that caught fire along Highway 673.
It is now “out.”
One fire was reported Saturday.
Dryden Fire #25, a single tree struck by lightning, is now “out” at 0.1 ha in size.
As well, one blaze was reported Friday.
Thunder Bay Fire #48 was a single tree struck by lightning and smouldering in the Sunbow Lake area about 90 km west-southwest of Thunder Bay.
The forest fire hazard is “low” across the region.
In related news, Ontario is supporting forest fire-fighting efforts in Idaho.
Some 118 personnel have been deployed there, including FireRanger crews, aviation staff, and overhead personnel.
Two CL-415 heavy waterbombers and a birddog aircraft also are on assignment there.
Ontario also continues to supply equipment to Alberta, B.C., and Saskatchewan.
