Robin McCormick
This year, as always, was a hustle and bustle of contests, agricultural events, games, the midway, and the many other activities that make up the annual fall fair in Emo.
However, perhaps the main reason district residents continue to go to the fair is to visit with people they maybe only see once a year.
Or, as I always find every year, I meet a few new people who enrich my life, teach me something new, or just make the fall fair’s motto true: Come as a stranger, leave as a friend!

The fair queen pageant was one event I was involved in and, as always, it was a great week of meeting with the contestants and all the volunteers who performed on the night of the crowning, plus all the organizers, etc.
The evening of the crowning was exciting. When the final votes were counted, the 2011 Fair Queen was Kaylee Heyens, with Sarah Glover being named First Princess and Chelsea Mosley as Second Princess.
Miss Congeniality also went to Mosley while the Dorothy Bonot Award was presented to Glover.
The Mini-Queen for 2011 is Kallahan LeBlanc while the Mini-King is Zach Simmons.
Congratulations to all the 2011 fall fair royalty.

The second event I was involved in was the annual loggers’ competition held in conjunction with the fall fair.
As always, it was a morning of excitement.
This year, the father-son duo of Kelvin and Jason Caul were close in points all through the 10 events. But in the end, Kelvin claimed yet another title, edging out his son by just one point.
Stay tuned next year as the 2012 competition just might be the year Jason takes over the prestigious title from his dad.
Kelvin also was named the “Safe Logger” this year while Jamie Loveday was named rookie-of-the-year.

Hastie Road is being rebuilt. As such, it is closed to all traffic other than local residents during construction.
All other motorists are asked to not travel the road unless absolutely necessary.
The less the contractor is interrupted, the soon the road will be completed.

Robin’s 2¢:
Three old guys are out walking.
“Windy, isn’t it?” noted the first one.
“No, it’s Thursday,” replied the second.
“So am I. Let’s go get a beer,” said the third.
