Fall fair is here

Robin McCormick

The annual fall fair in Emo runs tomorrow through Saturday (Aug. 18-20) at the fairgrounds.
It once again will feature a full schedule of events, including the midway, parade, queen crowning, loggers’ competition, stock car races, and musical entertainment, not to mention the scrumptious food to indulge in.
Perhaps the best part is the mixing and mingling of people that you maybe only see once a year at the fair.
Be sure to come out and enjoy this annual event!

Congratulations to Dan Oster and Hannah Firth, who were wed Aug. 6 in a beautiful ceremony, including bagpipes, Scottish dancing, castles, and all.
A beautiful day for a beautiful bride.
• • •
Congratulations, as well, to Diana Redford and Jamie Krukoski, who also were married on Aug. 6—with a different grand entrance.
The groomsmen arrived by plane while Diana—looking radiant—made her entrance from a plane.

Another ecstatic couple in our community is Leo and Kathy Pruys on the birth of their first grandchild, Nelson Leo Pruys Martin.
He was born July 21 to Lisa and Neil Martin of Winnipeg, weighing in at six pounds, 10 oz.
Susan Martin of Fort Frances also is ecstatic on the birth of her first grandchild.
Great-Grandma Annie Pruys, from Fort Frances, and Aunt Dawn Pruys of Toronto both have made the trip to Winnipeg to see this welcome addition to the Pruys and Martin families.

Robin’s 2¢:
My buddy’s missus left him last Thursday.
She said she was going out for a pint of milk and never came back.
I asked him how he was coping and he replied, “ Not bad. I’ve been using the powdered stuff.”
