The men’s morning study group known as the “Eye Opener” will resume next Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 6 a.m. at the Emo Inn.
The group, which meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month. will be using Tony Dungy’s recent book, “Quiet Strength: Men’s Bible Study.”
Join Dungy, the former Super Bowl-winning head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, on a journey to becoming a genuine man of God–a way of quiet strength.
Just bring along a Bible, a pen, and a desire to learn. Breakfast will be ordered from the menu.
If you missed last year’s study, you are invited to join the group in October.

The 3:16 Club also will start Oct. 5 and run every Wednesday from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church (next to Borderland Esso).
Students from SK-Grade 5 are welcome to attend, and can meet Mr. Enns at the DYS flagpole after school for the short walk to the church.
This free club features games, snacks, Bible stories, singing, and activities with caring teens and adults.
The theme this year is “God Is!” The group will be learning the answers to the questions such as “Who is God?” and “What is He Like?”

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary will be holding its annual fall tea and bazaar on Friday, Oct. 14 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
Admission is $3 at the door, with donations of baking, crafts, and white elephant items greatly appreciated.
Funds raised will go towards Emo Health Centre projects.
The auxiliary would like to thank everyone from Emo and the surrounding communities for their continued support.

The first “Country Jam” of the fall was held this past Friday (Sept. 23) at the Emo Legion.
Although the crowd was a little smaller than usual, everyone enjoyed the music and the dance floor was busy until nearly 11:30 p.m.
Musicians included a guest singer from Bemidji, Mn. and others from across the district.
The next “Jam” will take place Friday, Oct. 21. If you enjoy dancing or just listening to some of the old-time tunes, then mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend.
The organizers once again would like to thank the Legion for supplying the venue for their monthly dances.

Don’t miss Guthrie United Church’s annual “Harvest Supper” this Saturday (Oct. 2) at the Devlin Hall.
Supper will include turkey, ham, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salads, buns, and lots of mouth-watering desserts.
Tickets for the meal, which will be available at the door, cost $12 for adults and $6 for children aged six-12 (those five and under are free).
Join them for another wonderful meal and some great fellowship.

Tickets for this year’s Border Concert Association entertainment series, which cost $45 for adults, $95 for a family (two adults and school-age youth), and $10 for students (with school ID), are still on sale at the Emo Clinic, Cloverleaf, and Emo Drugs in Emo.
They also are available from Ethel Bujold or any Canadian Border Concert Association members.
The first concert—featuring “Street Corner Symphony”—is set for this Friday (Sept. 30) at 7:30 p.m. at the Backus Auditorium over in International Falls.
Season tickets also will be available at the door on opening night.
