Exciting multi-media element continues for KBI

Fans of the Kenora Bass International can expect some improvements in the multi-media presentation of the tournament this year.
Norcom Telecommunications and the KBI board are working together in improving the presentation of the bass tournament.
Last year, a partnership between the new Kenora Bass International board of directors and local communications company, Norcom Telecommunications, resulted in a whole new way to experience the tournament.
A large screen projection system was programmed with the NCC 10 live feed, which meant the audience was able to see live close-ups of all the action, current standings, team results, interviews, interesting pre-produced background stories, and re-caps of the previous days.
Norcom and the KBI team jointly produced the show, featuring KBI director Bill Kostick as both the master of ceremonies and host of the telecast.
Norcom also provided a live Webcast through its Norcom LYNX High-Speed Internet division. Their Web Site–www.gokenora.com–allowed the public to access up-to-date standings, both at home, and in the tent at a self-serve interactive kiosk.
This year’s improvement will include a multiple-camera Webcast, and the public will be able to watch the start of each flight every morning of the tournament and the harbourfront activities from the Webcam atop the Best Western Lakeside Inn.
Norcom general manager Warren Ritchie said this definitely is their biggest project of the year.
“We’ve always been a big supporter of KBI and other community events. Our staff is working hard to provide a first rate multi-media show for not just our viewers at home, but the fans in the tent as well.
“It’s going to be great,” he enthused.
KBI chairman Blair Delveaux said everyone will benefit from Norcom’s increased involvement.
“Fans of KBI will be informed and entertained like never before. It’s all part of our goal to make KBI more than just a fishing tournament.
“This co-production has allowed us to combine the traditional elements of the in-tent KBI experience with the background and interviews that Norcom previously brought to only their home viewers,” he said.
The NCC 10 live broadcast will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 and run through to the awards ceremony.
