Joshua Henry believes he’s “Canada’s Greatest Explorer”—he just needs the votes to prove it.
The Fort Frances native is among 25 Canadians competing in an online vote for the chance to prove their outdoor skills.
Henry, a self-described “outdoor adventure guy” who currently works as a professional guide, submitted a video to enter the competition.
While in Thailand, Henry created a video of him competing against friend Johnny Ward from Ireland in three “typical Canadian activities”—building a tent, starting a fire, and archery.
Henry—seeking to prove his outdoor skills—handily defeats the Irishman in all three challenges.
“I think the real challenge is back at home against my fellow Canadians,” Henry said in the video.
“I want to show [sponsor] Woods and you guys that I have what it takes to be
‘Canada’s Greatest Explorer,’” he added.
Henry has visited 52 countries by the age of 30.
People can vote daily on www.woodsexplorer.ca, with voting closing at 5:59 p.m. (CDT) on May 11.
The top 12 vote-getters then will compete in outdoor challenges across Canada for the title of “Woods Canada’s Greatest Explorer” and $25,000.
