On January 24, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit, along with members of Emergency Response Team, the Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Treaty Three Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Osborne Street in the town of Fort Frances. A vehicle was also search in relation to the investigation.
The executed search warrant has resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone, fentanyl, and morphine. In addition to drugs seized, officers also seized approximately $30,000.00 in drug related proceeds and items associated with drug trafficking. The seized illicit substances and currency combined have an estimated street value that exceeds $500,000.

As a result, a 30 year-old East York man has been arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – five counts
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 – in Canada
- Obstruct Peace Officer
A 33 year-old Fort Frances woman has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – five counts.
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on January 25, 2024, to answer to the above charges.
