On Monday, July 14, KBHW’s youth outreach, The Edge, brought an evangelistic skateboard team to International Falls.
The Manna team gave a demonstration and also preached a message of salvation to a group of about 250 primarily young people. Nearly 45 responded with a decision for Christ and prayed for salvation.
“We were floored at the power of God,” they said.
It was just a couple of hours later that the studios at KBHW suffered equipment damage due to a nearby lightning strike. It is believed the enemies attempt to steal attention from God’s work; it did not attract from praising God.
“This is why I believe in Christian radio and it takes a ‘Sharathon’ to make it a reality,” said KBHW station manager Bruce Christopherson.
“Mark your calendars and join us this coming Aug. 12-14 as the family of listeners participate and keep this ministry thriving and serving our God,” he added.
Theme of this year’s “Sharathon” will be Called to Praise, and the station’s staff wants to encourage you to call in with your testimony of praise and let them know how God has used KBHW as a blessing in your life.
KBHW’s fiscal year runs from September through August. During “Sharathon,” the station pre-empts its regular programming schedule to lay their needs before the listener.
The board then meets to set the budget for the coming year.
“Sharathon is family time,” and you will hear how the rest of the KBHW family cares for you as they respond with their Faith Promise to keep this ministry connected to you and yours.
“Volunteers are our lifeline,” stressed Christopherson. “Without them we could not function.”
These people are willing to donate four-hour shifts during those three days to answer the phones. There is a need for 12 daily, plus many hands and hot dishes to run the kitchen to keep their volunteers well-fed and happy.
“Preparations are underway,” noted Dawn Norberg, administrative secretary at KBHW. “We are knee deep in this project.
“We are looking to the Lord to provide volunteer help and guest speakers for on-air as we come together to promote KBHW for another remarkable year in service to Him,” she added.
“If you are in the area over the next month, would you be willing to stop in and tell us just how much KBHW means to you? And when you listen, we want to know if you are being blessed by what you hear on this station.”
In other news, KBHW this month will begin a new two-minute feature weekday afternoons at 4:40 p.m. The program is called “Faith Matters” and features Leith Anderson, senior pastor at Wooddale Church in Edan Prairie, Mn.
“Faith Matters” will be replacing “The Bible Minute.” For more info, visit www.faithmatters.fm.
Also this month, the Moody Broadcasting Network will present an encore presentation of “Friday Sing with Wayne Watson and Scott Krippayne” on Friday, Aug. 29.
Be sure to listen in for two hours of music from these two very talented artists.
