Looking ahead, the Emo Toy Library is planning to hold a fall carnival, also featuring the Borderland Community Orchestra, on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1-3 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
The theme will be Hallowe’en Orchestra and everyone is invited to come in costume to hear great music, play games, and enjoy homemade baked goodies and refreshments, said ETL co-ordinator Jennifer Miedema.
Tickets will be available at the ETL, the Emo municipal office, and Tompkins Hardware at a cost of $5 for adults and $2 for children.
“We need volunteers to make this event a success, so to help out please contact the centre at 482-2946,” added Miedema.
She also noted the ETL has added two new programs to its fall line-up, including “Infant Hour,” where they will be teaching parents and/or caregivers of children up to age 24 months different hand rhymes and lullabies to do with their children.
Parents/caregivers are welcome to bring along children over 24 months, as well.
The second program is called “Dad & Me,” which will be Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. This is a time for dads to interact with their children as well as the other dads who attend.
“There are still spaces available in both of our Story Hour sessions,” noted Miedema.
It’s also not too late to sign up for the Canada Safety Council’s babysitter’s course, which will run each Saturday from Sept. 20-Oct. 18 from 10 a.m.-noon.
This course is for children aged 12 and up, and the cost to attend is $10.
Parents/caregivers also are urged to sign up now for 1,2,3 Magic program, which is being offered at the ETL each Wednesday from Oct. 17-Oct. 1 from 7-8:30 p.m.
This free behaviour management program teaches easy to use discipline techniques for children aged two-and-a-half and up. Register at the ETL.
In other news, cookbooks available for $3 each. They make great gifts for family and friends.
