ETL changes to summer hours

Summer hours at the Emo Toy Library and Resource Centre are Tuesdays from 1-8 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
It will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
“The ETL will be open four days a week instead of five in order to have longer hours and offer more programs while we are open,” co-ordinator Jennifer Miedema noted.
Remember, everyone is welcome to drop by but only those with memberships are allowed to borrow toys and resources.
Miedema reminds everyone that the ETL will hold a bike rodeo and barbecue on Tuesday, June 17. Children must pre-register in order to know how much food to plan for.
Stop by ETL or call 482-2946 to sign up.
The ETL also would appreciate it if anyone could donate a salad for the barbecue, or if anyone would like to help out with the activities that day.
Because everyone will be at the Lion’s Park getting things ready, the ETL will be closed from 2-7 p.m. that day. The summer craft club and read-a-long programs also won’t run June 17.
In other news, Joanne Davis will be at the ETL next Tuesday (June 10) from 1-4 p.m. to offer DPS, a screening tool used for children aged one to four-and-a-half.
The purpose of the screening is to identify whether or not your child is developing appropriately for his/her age.
Each session will take about 20 minutes per child, and once she has had a chance to interpret the results, “Joanne will provide you a summary of the screening,” said Miedema.
Evidence has shown that the first years of a child’s life are the most important in terms of development and that these years are “crucial” in setting a good foundation for each child’s future.
Early intervention and identification are the keys to overcoming any difficulties or problems your child may be facing. Sign your child up now for the screening by calling the ETL at 482-2946.
Space is limited so be sure to do so ASAP.
